Bosch DVRs become part of the Beatles Story
600 Series Bosch DVRs have been installed at the Beatles Story - a themed visitor attraction in the UK
A number of Bosch Security Systems 600 DVRs have been installed at an attraction dedicated to the Beatles – the Beatles Story – so that images captured from the CCTV cameras can be more easily stored and accessed.

The Beatles Story is the world's leading Beatles-themed visitor attraction and is based in Liverpool, birthplace of the Beatles. Established in 1988, it opened in the Albert Dock in May 1990 before being expanded a number of times in recent years.

As part of its latest refurbishment, the management decided upon an upgrade to security and so approached Mark Ashall, Operations Director at Unique Integrated Systems (UIS), who had worked on the original solution in the Albert Dock, to specify what needed upgrading: “The old system was a mismatch of three different DVRs, with different sized hard drives and cabling that needed modernising,” he says.

“We decided that the best plan was to move the control panel into the comms room so that the cabling could be re-organised. We also specified four Bosch 600 series DVRs – having worked with them on a number of others sites and been very pleased with their reliability and performance – and a control keyboard.”

The Bosch Security Systems DVR 600 is part of a new series of digital video recorders that enables operators to manage video from any location via LAN, WAN or the Internet. It supports playback in multiple display aspect ratios including widescreen, high-resolution monitors. Viewing is also possible directly from web-enabled mobile devices.

The 600 Series, meanwhile, is an eight or 16-channel DVR that adds the ability for the user or installer to add cost-effective storage of up to 4TB in one unit. It supports playback in multiple display aspect ratios including widescreen, high-resolution monitors. It is designed to be affordable, and targeted at a variety of small- to medium-sized applications. It is similarly easy to install and configure, requiring no special training. It works continuously and reliably; control is achieved via a choice of keyboard, mouse, infra-red remote control or directly from the front panel.

Alan McCarthy, Security Manager at the Beatles Story, says the improvements reflect an ongoing dedication to the customer experience: “We have some low light level areas that the cameras are suited to survey without losing picture quality. “The monitors, cameras and keyboard are very easy to use, and now that the final parts of the system have been upgraded with the Bosch DVRs we are confident that whatever may happen on site, we will be able to capture it and use it should we need to.”
