Bosch Security Systems has been awarded the contract to provide CCTV systems for video surveillance at the world's most famous folk festival - and beer festival - Oktoberfest in Munich, for the sixth consecutive year.

The contract has been awarded by the security authorities of the City of Munich for Bosch to install 12 AutoDome cameras at the main entrance, the tents' access points and along the rows of rides.

Bosch's AutoDome camera is an automatic camera with a dome-shaped housing, which can swivel in all directions.  It can furthermore tilt to a 90° angle and is equipped with powerful zoom lenses.  The cameras will be linked to the police-monitoring centre, where they will be controlled and monitored.  The images will be recorded by Bosch's powerful network-oriented digital video surveillance and recording system - Dibos, which will store six images per camera every second, around the clock for the duration of the festival.  To cover this period of more than two weeks, the memory capacity will provide over 2.5 terabytes of data.

"The Oktoberfest in Munich is considered to be the largest popular folk festival in the world," explains Jeremy Hockham, UK Managing Director of Bosch Security Systems.  "Every year, some six million people from all over the world visit the festival grounds at the Theresienwiese, producing huge crowds day after day.  It is imperative that it has a reliable CCTV system and for this reason Bosch has been awarded the contract again this year, based on its proven track record."
