To complement the successful launch of Bosch Security Systems' Dinion IP camera, Bosch has now embarked on a comprehensive IP training programme for all employees from senior engineers and sales teams through to the administrative and support staff.

Jeremy Hockham, UK Managing Director of Bosch Security Systems explains: "Internet Protocol (IP) has revolutionised the way the world communicates and it is now set to transform CCTV surveillance systems.  Installers are receiving more and more requests for IP-enabled cameras as their customers recognise the benefits of IP-based surveillance installations in comparison to traditional solutions.  In response to this we feel that it is essential for everyone to be fully versed on IP, the related terminology and its capabilities."

So now, we not only offer training to our customers but also to all of our employees.  This is all part of our drive to put service and the customer first and enhance our reputation for quality and reliability throughout our organisation.

"IP is undeniably the future of CCTV and so we are investing in training for everyone, from the product managers and sales staff all the way through to our credit controller.  It is a new approach for us but one which will ensure that Bosch remains at the forefront of the IP revolution."

Dinion IP - its proven Dinion camera with integrated IP network connection - was launched in response to the growing market demand for greater flexibility, improved camera functionality, reduced cost of ownership and improved accessibility.

Bosch's Dinion range of fixed cameras was first launched in 2002 meeting the need for affordable, high-performance CCTV imaging, and it then later introduced the DinionXF series to offer high performance Colour and Day/Night models addressing the critical issues of sensitivity and dynamic range.

The new Dinion IP camera combines all the benefits and reliability of the Dinion range with a network video server that transmits video and control data over IP network which means that images can be transmitted to several receivers simultaneously. Dinion IP cameras have tri-streaming technology: Dual MPEG-4 and JPEG compression modes simultaneously allow a dedicated stream at one frame rate for recording and a different stream for live viewing, while JPEGS can be streamed to other devices like, for example, a PDA.

With an Ethernet connection and analogue BNC output, Dinion IP cameras offer customers a hybrid solution as they can be connected to existing analogue CCTV equipment, whilst still offering the additional flexibility and scalability of IP-based CCTV systems.  Installation is straightforward and they are easy to configure via the IP network: configuration settings can be stored as computer files and copied from one camera to another and settings can be uploaded to many cameras in the network simultaneously.

The Dinion IP and DinionXF IP cameras have in-built intelligent functionality, such as alarm management with relay output, event handling, alarm input and motion detection. Dinion IP is fully compliant including IEEE 802.3af compliant Power-over-Ethernet (PoE).  PoE means that installation is easy and additional cabling is eliminated, as cameras do not require a local AC power source.  An additional benefit with PoE installations is that if the network is supported by an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), Dinion IP cameras can continue to operate even when there is a power failure.
