Galaxy Control Systems, a leading provider of integrated access control, video and security solutions, has released the V-10 Network Appliance, extending Galaxy’s full system functionality from a centralised platform to local and remote clients across an end user’s network.

“Performance, scalability and versatility are hallmarks of the new Galaxy V-10 Network Appliance,” said Robert Laughlin, President, Galaxy Control Systems. “With its ability to seamlessly integrate with our System Galaxy Access Control and Management Software, our new V-10 Network Appliance affords users the ability to implement advanced security operations with extreme cost-efficiency.”

With all software pre-installed and preconfigured on one device, Galaxy’s new V-10 Network Appliance greatly reduces the cost and time required for installation. The user can simply add the device’s IP address and connect it to the network. By eliminating the need to deploy software on a dedicated PC or workstation, the Galaxy V-10 allows system administrators to take advantage of the full functionality of a thick client by using a simple desktop shortcut. Operator login privileges allow system administrators to set client roles.

The V-10 Network Appliance also alleviates much of the frustration associated with upgrades and maintenance, which can be performed efficiently on just one appliance in one location. Operations can then be resumed by refreshing client connections, and the V-10 Network Appliance creates automated backups to ensure continuity and reliability.

Scalable for up to 50,000 users and 254 user-definable time schedules and for unlimited access groups, the Galaxy V-10 Network Appliance is offered in two levels: Level 1 provides 1-16 access readers; and Level 2 provides 1-128 access readers. All hardware is solid state and the V-10 Network Appliance can be configured to interface with the company’s advanced System Galaxy Access Control and Management Software via the web, mobile app, thin client or thick client to provide users ultimate flexibility.

The System Galaxy Web Client allows administrators to manage system data from a web browser using HTTP/HTTPS with TCP/IP over a public or private Internet/intranet. Functions include: personnel management, photo capture and ID badge printing, card access rules, door/reader properties and report printing. The Mobile App option manages a somewhat less expansive set of data from a mobile device, including data on identifications, card access, activity reports and access point control. The TS RemoteApp option gives users the same rich experience, functionality and feature set of a thick client without requiring software to be installed on the local or remote client. The SG Thick Client allows system users to perform all the functions available to the traditional thick client, and can be easily added to the V-10 Network Appliance environment if desired.
