OnSSI’s Ocularis raises productivity standards for security operations
Ocularis IP software is compliant with standards from both PSIA and ONVIF
Making security professionals more productive is an essential element of effective security management, especially given today's business mandate to contain costs and optimise resources. At ISC West, On-Net Surveillance Systems, Inc. (OnSSI), the leading supplier of IP video surveillance control and management software, highlighted how exclusive features of the newly updated Ocularis IP video-centric physical security information management (PSIM) platform enhance the overall productivity of security operations.

OnSSI was demonstrating the recently released Ocularis DS, a comprehensive recording and management solution designed for multi-site, multi-server large enterprise environments; and Ocularis ES, a centralised, system-wide large enterprise application to manage edge devices, hardware, and networking and user rights. Ocularis offers a touch screen-enabled interface complete with map-based navigation, instant access to every camera, powerful investigation tools and multi-operator, multi-site versatility. The latest versions of the software include drivers for newly supported devices and enhanced support for existing devices, and are compliant with standards from both PSIA (Physicial Security Interoperability Alliance) and ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum).

OnSSI believes that making security professionals more productive is an essential element of effective security management

"The unique functionality and interoperability of Ocularis enable users to make better use of their surveillance systems and security personnel," said Gadi Piran, President and Chief Technology Officer, OnSSI. "Our new Ocularis IP video management platform solutions provide the most efficient means possible to integrate and control the most advanced IP technologies, and manage overall operations more efficiently."

Ocularis improves the overall efficiency of security operations as a result of its innovative features including:

  • Interactive Overlay Controls (IOC) - Every control relevant to each camera appears as a pop-up in each camera pane in the Ocularis Client for instant investigation during live monitoring. There are no complex control panels or dashboards so training is minimal, even for non-security personnel.
  • Fusion of complex event scenarios - Users can custom-create composite events encompassing two or more detections that are specific to their organisation, while incorporating logical sequence and time interval between events. For example, door A opened but no motion was detected in corridor B within 30 seconds.
  • Shared event management workflow - Alerts registered in a Shared Alerts list are dynamically updated in each operator's video client, with priority for type of alert. From the Shared Event Handling window, users can access video of an alert, review and apply forensic tools and locate the alert on a map. Ocularis' Bookmarking tool is the most advanced in the industry, allowing security personnel to work as a team to manage an incoming stream of events. Users can build an annotated case file in seconds, with video exported for court evidence in multiple formats, including a multiple camera video database.
  • Simplified system and device management - Under the Ocularis ES platform, the NetEVS Video Management System (VMS) offers a centralised server management feature that allows settings for all cameras to be configured from a centralised administration client without having to log-in to each recording server separately. Ocularis functions as a comprehensive enterprise-level control platform based on open architecture to enable use of off-the-shelf hardware and simplified integration of new technologies, including optional add-on components. Users have the flexibility to incorporate best-of-breed recorders, including OnSSI's market-leading NVRs, as well as IP and analogue cameras from virtually every leading manufacturer.
