The added value multibrand distributor Videor has been marketing FLIR thermal imaging cameras on the UK market. Phil Wilkinson, Videor UK General Manager: "We are proud to offer the full range of thermal imaging products from the world's leader in the infrared technology segment. Videor customers now benefit from FLIR's 50 years of experience in the development and production of infrared cameras for thermal night vision applications."
FLIR Systems, based in Wilsonville (USA), has been supplying security technology for the German market to Videor for three years. In addition to the sales success achieved in Germany, the easing of export licence restrictions by the US Government has also played an important role for the extended distribution rights. Strict export regulations meant that FLIR thermal imaging cameras with refresh rates of 25 Hertz (PAL) or 30 Hertz (NTSC) could only be obtained outside of the USA subject to elaborate licensing procedures. These restrictions were relaxed last summer for import into the UK and 37 other countries.
A thermal imager is a camera which is capable of detecting extremely small temperature differences. These temperature differences can be converted into a real-time video image. Displayed on a monitor, this video image is extremely suited for night vision applications. Unlike other night vision systems that require low amounts of light to generate an image, a thermal imager needs no light at all. This makes it the perfect tool to see in absolute darkness and to see during the darkest nights.
By the way, Videor responds to customer requests by combining FLIR thermal imaging cameras with its eneo brand pan/tilt systems into a single system offered at an unbeatable price. Thermal imaging cameras from the FLIR SR Series are fitted with pan/tilt heads from the eneo VPT Series and fully cabled in VIDEOR's own production facility. Plug & Play then provides easy connection and immediate start-up. PC management software does not have to be purchased separately as it is bundled in the product package. With this combination of two products, VIDEOR is providing system integrators and installers a less complex and more economical alternative to comparable systems.
