Genetec, a pioneer in the physical security industry and a leading provider of world-class unified IP security solutions, announced the availability of Stratocast, its powerful Video Surveillance as a Service (VSaaS) powered by Microsoft Corp.'s Windows Azure cloud-computing platform. Stratocast delivers high-end and reliable video surveillance service for small and mid-sized businesses without the costs and complexities associated with installing and managing on-premise hardware and storage. Stratocast also offers a perfect hybrid solution for Genetec enterprise customers to easily deploy video surveillance within satellite or remote locations.

After a comprehensive five-month Beta program with over 40 customer test sites—including a variety of small businesses and security systems integrators—Stratocast is available through Genetec Stratocast channel partners in North America, Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

“We were surprised at how quick and simple the whole set up process for Stratocast was,” said Kim Baumgartner, Director, Business Development at Parallel Technologies, a systems integrator in the US. “Once we were up and running, we found the Stratocast interface so intuitive, that it took no time at all to start effectively using the service,” added Baumgartner.

With packages starting below $10 USD a month per camera, Stratocast offers some of the most advanced functionalities that have made Genetec the world's leading Video Management Software (VMS) vendor. Stratocast features include: HD video capture; intelligent video management that sends automatic alerts when an activity or incident has occurred; and the unique Cloud Federation feature, for easily adding new cameras to remote/satellite locations to supplement existing on-premise Security Center unified security management platforms.

Stratocast also features edge recording and video trickling capabilities, allowing each customer to fine-tune their cameras, bandwidth, and archives specific to their needs and requirements. With a guaranteed Service Level Agreement (SLA) at 99.5%, and a clean, modern and easy-to-use interface, Stratocast customers can quickly and reliably access live and recorded video feeds from any computer, smartphone or tablet—from anywhere in the world—to ensure peace of mind while away from the store or office.

Stratocast supports a wide variety of cameras that feature “phone home” functionality, including both fixed and PTZ (pan tilt and zoom) cameras. And, with over 40 models of Axis cameras available at launch, Stratocast allows customers to choose the most appropriate camera for the unique needs of their security installation.
