The solution consists of the Blackbird Micro PC and the new JetCam HD digital ANPR camera range |
The Blackbird Micro PC™ runs standard operating systems such as Windows XP/7 and can do the usual day-to-day tasks including Internet and word processing. Whereas a standard PC uses over 100 Watts of power, the Blackbird Micro PC uses less than 10W, that's 90% more energy efficient.
Its ultra small size and fully embedded components with no moving parts, can withstand shakes and knocks, making it ideally suited for use as an in-vehicle computer.
The optional 7" USB touch-screen monitor complements the Blackbird Micro PC perfectly due to its size and very low power consumption - using just 2W at standard brightness. The monitor connects to the PC via 2 USB ports, one for power and the other for communication. An external power source is not required.
There are two groups of cameras within the ANPR range - Digital GigE cameras and Digital IP cameras |
The new JetCam HD digital ANPR camera range comprises a comprehensive choice of compact digital cameras which are offered without external housings and IR illumination for customers who want to mount the cameras for example inside a vehicle - or install them in their own housings.
There are two groups of cameras within the range - Digital GigE cameras and Digital IP cameras.
The GigE cameras are high-definition and deliver crisp images to the Blackbird Micro PC using a Gigabit Ethernet connection. These are raw images and therefore of the utmost quality when extremely high recognition rates are required. GigE cable lengths are restricted to 100m in length without using repeaters or fibre.
The IP cameras are a lower cost option. These use on-board processors to compress the images to M-JPEG or MPEG streams and are directly connected to the Blackbird Micro PC using standard CAT5 cables or they may be connected to an Ethernet switch on a 100BaseT network.
Both types of cameras do not need frame grabbers - and can connect directly to the Ethernet port on a laptop or the Blackbird Micro PC.
Alternatively, the JellyBean IR ANPR camera may be connected to the Blackbird Micro using the Jet Hippo IP converter. This converts standard CCIR composite video into an M-JPEG stream and connects via a CAT-5 cable.
Steve Townsend from CitySync said: "We have been working closely with our customers by hosting Road Shows around the country to get feedback on their ANPR requirements. There has been a great deal of interest in our new mini processor and covert systems. For in-car systems, temporary installations requiring low power consumption and other limited space applications the new micro range provides an ANPR solution without compromising on performance."
