ASSA ABLOY Access Control’s Aperio locking solution interfaced to the ACS PLAN Access Control System
ASSA ABLOY Access Control’s Aperio smart technology was found to be the most cost effective solution

ASSA ABLOY Access Control’s innovative Aperio locking solution has been installed and interfaced to the ACS PLAN Access Control System at the London offices of international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

The London office has recently undergone some refurbishment and at the same time security arrangements were reviewed.

Following significant research by the security team and ACS who provide the current PLAN access control system, ASSA ABLOY Access Control’s Aperio smart technology was found to be the most cost effective and easy to install solution to enable wireless links, without any need to modify the doors.

Stuart House of PCL Whitehall, Security Manager said: “The London office is undergoing a significant refurbishment and this period was the perfect opportunity to review the security arrangements to improve access control.”

“Aperio appealed to us because of its innovative design and ability to work with the security solution in place. We have found it really easy to install and operate, as access can be granted or denied instantly without the need for updating cards or visiting individual door locations.”

To date, Aperio cylinders have been fitted on a variety of applications, including all IT cabinets, high security maintenance areas and some offices. All have been integrated with the ACS PLAN Security system via Mifare technology.

Ray Philips of ACS added: “There are many different factors to consider when looking at the security of such a prestigious solicitor’s office. Not only is there the need to accommodate daily activity of a significant number of staff and visitors, but also an ability to instantly update card access points is vital, for example with trainee solicitor’s changing departments regularly.”

“This is why Aperio wireless technology is the perfect solution. Its real advantage over its competition is how easy it is to install, even to a mixture of door types. And its flexibility in ability to work with a Mifare interface means it can instantly connect to our PLAN System.”

The Aperio wireless locking solution allows free egress via the lock handle when required and the use of existing card credentials on additional online doors. This provides real time audits and instant updates of access restrictions through the existing access control system.

Guy Willott, Senior Sales Manager of ASSA ABLOY Access Control concluded: “The features of Aperio make it a simple and intelligent way of upgrading the security level of any premises, whilst also solving key management issues. It also allows security officials to monitor doors to ensure security procedures are constantly adhered by all staff and visitors.”

“By utilising the existing access control system in place and not altering the doors in anyway, the installation costs are also minimised. And together with its smart design and there is no compromise on aesthetics or style.”

A wireless evolution for online door control, Aperio is a convenient and cost-effective enabling technology, providing end users with an intelligent way to raise the security level of their premises.
