Linear, LLC a leader in access control, security and health and wellness technology solutions announces LinearLinc and nuLinc, a cloud-based interactive service and hardware solution that provides remote operation and monitoring of legacy security systems via cellular, wireless or wired IP networks. The solution provides useful benefits for existing security system owners and recurring monthly revenue opportunities (RMR) for dealers.

LinearLinc is the first remotely-connected, cloud-based ‘turnkey’ monitoring management solution Linear has brought to the market. LinearLinc works with a wide array of security systems from all different brands, including those developed and installed before widespread adoption of the Internet.

With LinearLinc, dealers and central stations can also add incremental recurring revenue to their existing customer population and new customer installations. LinearLinc is an easy up-sell for dealers who want to offer customers remote management of their legacy systems, but are not interested in a purchasing a new system, or significantly upgrading components or panels. Installation requires two wires to the PTSN, two for power, two for key switching and comes with a wiring harness that goes into the battery for backup power.

Installing and commissioning a nuLinc communicator is simple, allowing installers to remove the Plain Old Telephone System (POTS) line and replace it with a cellular connection. Because nuLinc is a true take-over device, there’s no need to re-configure the entire security panel to communicate with LinearLinc.

Once installed, nuLinc allows bi-directional communication via cellular, wireless or Internet to LinearLinc, which then distributes the information out to a dealer’s site, mobile applications, a web user interface or a central station. LinearLinc is also designed for future facilitation of live/recorded video monitoring and integration, control of automation devices, and environmental controls; all coveted features of modern security systems. An internal Z-wave chip primes nuLinc as a wireless controller that can also set schedules with shades, door locks or other systems in the home based around sunrise, sunset, system status, occupancy and other time or event-based conditions.

“Security system installers no longer need to completely replace an old system in order to upgrade it to meet the needs and lifestyle of the modern consumer,” said Duane Paulson, senior vice president of market and product development for Linear. “LinearLinc is an ideal gateway for dealers to earn RMR while upgrading existing customer’s security systems with high value ‘smart’ features for a low cost.”
