Situations are seldom more serious for the emergency services than when a potentially explosive gas leak occurs. Therefore Newport Pagnell's Fire Brigade had no hesitation in calling out Dyno-Secure when they were unable to gain entry to a property where the owners were on holiday.
Events unfolded when a neighbour realised there was a strong smell of gas coming from the house next door where the family had been away for some days. The fire brigade was alerted and, despite having the traditional option of the fireman's axe, they decided on a soft approach and called for the local Dyno-Secure franchise.
Jon Spellen of BDL Services Limited, the local Dyno-Secure franchise who carried out the work, explains:
"When one of my engineers arrived on site there was a very strong smell of gas outside the property and the Thames Valley Police asked him if he could get the door open without doing any damage. In fact this is something we have to do quite often for different clients and we have special tools for the job. This was a typical PVC front door with a Euro-cylinder lock and it took him just 20 minutes to gain entry."
One of the many services provided by BDL Services involves lock upgrades for businesses and property owners who have to meet BS 5621 for insurance purposes. A lot of work is also undertaken for Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire police, often where an occupant has died or replace locks after a dawn drugs raid. The company is also asked to pick locks by the councils and bailiffs acting on their behalf.
BDL Services was established four years ago and has grown into a successful business which operates across the counties of Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. The company is part of the Dyno-Secure Lock and Security Services network, the UK's largest mobile emergency locksmith service. From rapid response non-destructive re-entry services to a full range of access control and burglary prevention services, the company supports domestic and commercial customers throughout the UK.
