Axis Communications announces that it has increased the warranty period on its network video products to three years from one year.  The new three-year hardware warranty applies to purchases made from January 1st 2007 onwards.  It is applicable to all Axis network video products except for the AXIS 206 and AXIS 207(W/MW) Network Cameras.

Axis Communications (UK) has also reached an agreement with Comtek Network Systems to manage the Return Merchandise Authorisation (RMA) process for all Axis product warranty claims.  Comtek, established in 1989, owns repair centres in the UK, Germany, Holland and USA and has extensive experience in operating third-party RTM processes for a host of leading manufacturers, carrying out repairs on behalf of Cisco, Nortel, 3Com and Extreme Networks amongst others.

Customers who experience problems with an Axis product first contact Axis technical support who will try to diagnose the problem.  In the unlikely event of an Axis product requiring repair under warranty, once authorised by Axis, customers simply contact Comtek and return their product for repair.  Comtek repair centres are staffed by qualified technicians and engineers who are regularly trained by Axis.  Comtek repair centres are also accredited with ISO 9001:2000.  All repairs carried out by Comtek typically carry a full year warranty.

Anders Laurin, executive vice president of corporate strategy, Axis Communications commented:

"Axis specialises in professional, network video solutions and this extended warranty coverage - which is provided at no additional cost to our customers - strengthens the value of our offering to the professional security market.  The new warranty provides end users, systems integrators and resellers with secure, trouble-free ownership and better control of total costs."

Steve Gorski, managing director, Axis Communications (UK) Limited, added:

"Extending our warranty period to three years demonstrates the quality of Axis products and gives extra reassurance to our customers.  In addition, our agreement with Comtek means our customers have access to a convenient, high quality warranty repair service if a fault ever does occur with their Axis equipment.  Comtek has an excellent track record with a range of leading IT vendors and its commitment to training and accreditation of its technicians and repair centres ensures the highest standards."

The warranty covers defects in workmanship and materials for a period of three years from the date of purchase.  Axis Communications (UK), through Comtek, will replace a defective product under warranty at no cost to the customer.
