Axis Communications is delivering surveillance system to enhance safety and security for spectators and performers
Axis network-based surveillance cameras enable HDTV picture quality, remote access, and high light sensitivity

Axis Communications is delivering an IP video surveillance system to enhance safety and security for spectators and performers at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) finals in the Malmö Arena.

“We’re pleased and proud that the Malmö Arena chose Axis cameras for coverage of this prestigious, internationally acclaimed event,” said Ray Mauritsson, CEO of Axis Communications. “It’s extremely important that guests, artists, and organisers are safe and secure during the contests.”

The ESC is expected to attract more than 100 million TV viewers and up to 10,000 visitors to the arena, on 10 separate occasions.

ESC organisers set very high image-quality and safety standards for the installation. The network-based surveillance cameras enable HDTV picture quality, remote access with easy retrievability of material via the internet and high light sensitivity for reproducing color images in tricky lighting conditions.

“During this project, we’ve worked very closely with Axis so that together, we get a solution aligned with international surveillance requirements during the contests,” said Peter Narbe, head of Security, ESC 2013. “I’m delighted with the partnership and the results that my colleagues and I have with Axis.”

The ESC is the world's largest entertainment programme; it will be telecast from Malmö on 14, 16, and 18 May.
