Axis Communications has awarded Irish security installer, MTS Security, its Best New Partner Award 2007 at its recent partner conference held at Sopwell House, St Albans.Axis Communications, the global leader in network video, has awarded Irish security installer MTS Security its Best New Partner Award 2007 at its recent partner conference held at Sopwell House, St Albans.  Dublin-based MTS Security had expertise in access control and intruder alarms before building expertise in IP-Surveillance deployments over the last two years.

MTS Security decided to make a commitment to IP-Surveillance following attendance at an AXIS Academy training session in 2006.  At this time MTS Security commenced installation of IP-Surveillance projects for many of their existing and new clients, successful network video conversions and new IP-based installations that enabled MTS Security to become an AXIS Solution Partner in April 2007.  The company has built a team specialising in IP-Surveillance deployments in Ireland and elsewhere in Europe.

Steve Mooney, sales director, MTS Security, explains the trend to centralise physical security which is pushing cameras onto the corporate network, "We are seeing a trend by larger companies to have the entire physical and data security infrastructure of the business managed from one central location.  Central control is increasingly moving into the IT or facilities management departments."

"IT managers are already looking after infosecurity to protect the company's intellectual data assets.  They often work with the HR department to ensure the right access levels are provided to the right employees inside their offices.  They now want to extend this control to put the corporate offices' surveillance cameras onto the network so they can check people aren't getting into restricted areas under false pretences."

MTS Security is also seeing a parallel convergence going on so that access control, surveillance, as well as heating, air conditioning, alarm and intercom systems are all being run out of central, networked Building Management Systems and this is also tending towards deployment of IP-Surveillance cameras rather than CCTV cameras in new fit outs.

Partly as a result of these two trends, MTS Security has seen more than 40 per cent growth in 2007 and attributes some two thirds of this growth to its IP-Surveillance installation and integration contracts.  MTS Security has won IP-Surveillance contracts with several global brands and this work has already taken them into Eastern Europe.

Steve Gorski, managing director, Axis Communications (UK) Ltd, commented, "MTS Security is clearly a rising star in the Irish market and an example to all installers in the security market that it is possible to make a fairly rapid transition into the lucrative and fast growing market of network video.  The parallel trends of converging information with physical security systems and broadening of the functionality offered by building management systems are contributing to this growth quite considerably now."
