Frost and Sullivan, global growth consulting company, today announced that it has selected Agent Video Intelligence, Inc., a global leader in enterprise-grade video analytics, as the recipient of the prestigious 2006 Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Innovation in the video analytics market.  The award is presented annually to the company whose technological innovation; research efforts and sound business strategy have been successful in moving the video analytics industry forward.  Agent Vi was named this year's recipient based on the company's exemplary-best practice in product development and market acceptance for it's next generation IPoIP (image processing over IP) video analytics platform.

Agent Vi's IPoIP distributed image processing architecture partitions detection algorithms so that it can process video data in both the camera and the central server, retaining the strengths of both platforms while avoiding their limitations.  Agent Vi's groundbreaking technology minimizes hardware and network bandwidth requirements and dramatically reduces deployment and operational costs for enterprise-class video analytics systems.

"The processing that IPoIP technology does on the edge of the network is called the universal feature extraction," says Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Jason Halverson. "This process is performed by the part of the algorithm that extracts information from the image pixels of incoming images when they are at their highest quality and no data has been lost due to image compression.  This distributed image processing architecture enables IPoIP to retain the strengths of both the ‘local' and ‘server' architectures, but without their limitations.

The IPoIP feature that differentiates it from the competition in operational cost savings is its ability to update algorithms to all the devices on the network with a single download.  Other systems typically require massive upgrades involving manual updates at each device, making this feature a significant cost saver."

Agent Vi's system has been accepted worldwide since market introduction three years ago.  In addition to numerous field trials throughout the U.S, Europe and Asia, the technology has been successfully installed in leading enterprise-grade organisations, including:

  • The Israeli Ministry of Justice
  • Israeli Railways Authority
  • The Israel Prison Service
  • Israeli Electric Corporation
  • Iberia Airlines (Spain)
  • U.S. Department of Energy
  • Metropolitan Transit Authority of Houston, Texas.

"The company's distribution strategy is a two-tiered approach that focuses on both OEM and integrator customers," explains Halverson.  "Agent Vi is lining up integrators in the verticals and focusing on supporting the top two to three dozen resellers per country with the best in the industry customer service... Agent Vi has based its video analysis technology on open standards architecture so that it is easy to integrate with other supplier's technology, enabling it to strategically collaborate with other suppliers and maximize market penetration.  This strategy has been paying off, with Agent Vi successfully developing partnerships with camera and device manufacturers that are including the IPoIP smart technology in their video equipment."

"Since our founding four years ago, our company's mission has been to lead the video analytics market into the next generation with innovative enterprise-grade technology, strategic forward thinking and strong customer focus, " said Dieter Kondek, President and CEO of Agent Vi.  "These three goals have enabled us to deliver the future requirements of our customers today, well ahead of our competitors.  Going forward, these goals will continue to serve as the guiding principles for the continued success of our company, qualities for which Frost & Sullivan has recognized us today."
