Honeywell's Training Centre of Excellence will play a key role in moving the security industry forward
New training facility helps industry players expand knowledge in security solutions
Honeywell recently announced its first Training Centre of Excellence (TCoE) in the UK.  The state-of-the-art training centre will provide security installers with a comprehensive understanding of the key trends in security, as well as in-depth training sessions on technical topics covering installation, maintenance and monitoring of security systems.

The Training Centre of Excellence will play a key role in moving the security industry forward, and also give installers a competitive advantage.  Courses are open to all UK installers interested in learning more and enriching their skills set.  They are capped at eight people to ensure that all participants benefit from direct and hands-on interaction.  Training will not be solely focused on Honeywell products, but will also cover the fundamentals of security systems such as CCTV, use of IP, access control, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), and video analytics, as well as product specific courses.

The TCoE, based at Honeywell's Runcorn office, has been "purpose built" for training, equipped with cutting-edge technology providing participants with a training experience that is truly hands-on and interactive whilst promoting best practice. Within the centre, a demonstration area has been installed to bring system design and complex technical challenges to life by simulating real-world situations.  The courses highlight the benefits and drawbacks of using different kinds of technology to suit everyday situations.  For example, the dark room demonstration area shows the effect of lighting on camera and lens selection for applications such as ANPR and external camera selection.

Honeywell's TCoE represents a key pillar of the company's Systems Integrator programme, a scheme designed to provide installers with enhanced competitive advantage through training and technical support.  The TCoE in the UK is the first in an ambitious plan to rollout a network of training hubs across Europe.

Vineet Nargolwala, managing director of Honeywell Systems Group EMEA said:  "Providing better training allows the most efficient use of customer support services, and improves an installer's reputation and ultimately, bottom line.  This announcement is part of a wider initiative to promote best practice within the industry to ensure that end-users are reaping the rewards of the integrated security solutions available, and that installers are enjoying the benefits of getting it right first time. We're training the industry for the future, not just for today."

To support the launch of the centre, Honeywell Security has brought in specialist training manager Gordon Thomas, reporting to Bill Corkhill, Honeywell Systems Group EMEA technical support and training director. Both have played a key role in developing a training programme that supports the needs of the installer. "We've enjoyed fantastic success so far with 92 per cent of places filled against our quota and ahead of schedule," comments Gordon.  "The whole programme is well subscribed and growing in popularity." Bill Corkhill said:  "The feedback from those trained so far has been excellent, and we're confident that installers have our facility on the radar, and will be able to take advantage of our extensive offering."

The TCoE courses are open to all UK installers interested in learning more about the security industry.  For more information and to register for training courses visit the website.
