Intellio intelligent cameras secure The Hugo Boss store in Zagreb
The security system of Hugo Boss store in Zagreb is equipped with intelligent retail functionality developed by Hungarian manufacturer Intellio. Debuting in the fashion industry, the intelligent security system not only sends alerts in case of security events, but is also capable of tracking customers' paths and counts traffic inside a retail facility. The new retail solutions may become a landmark step.

A system like that can prove useful in retail stores in terms of marketing and sales, since it allows for more efficient placement of their products. The system installed for Hugo Boss Zagreb is in one part a security and another part a marketing tool for retailers. "Hungary based Intellio produces a new generation of security systems based on onboard intelligence," says Szonja Balogh, marketing manager of Intellio. This solution combines retail and security services on the same platform and infrastructure. This double functionality targeted at retailers places the manufacturer ahead of its competition.

The first step in the Zagreb fashion store was to provide security surveillance while installing a traffic counter for incoming and outgoing traffic. These cameras have moved beyond being simple security cameras, although that is what the initial development centered around. "Having onboard intelligence have quickly proved to open up a wide array of utilization, one of them is the retail solution," says Adorján Princz, CTO of Intellio. One of the two major aspects of the retail solution is the people counter used in Zagreb, for example. The detector distinguishes between incoming and outgoing traffic and keeps track of the number of visitors. Another major service is able to keep track of the paths of customers inside a store, analyzing patterns in their traffic.

Retail is just one of the developments  outside the realm of the security industry. Another such application is a road monitoring solution, currently being tested on English highways. The system monitors the direction of traffic, counts and categorizes vehicles, measures average speed and recognizes accidents.

Important features of the IP cameras are megapixel resolutions and Day & Night, which provide images with full details at any time of day.

Other clients, besides Hugo Boss Zagreb, who are using intelligent camera solutions, include MÁV, Corvinus University of Budapest, Iron Mountain, and the Italian Cultural Insitute in Belgrade.
