MITIE is pleased to announce that they have recently been appointed as the exclusive manned guarding supplier to HM Courts Service (HMCS) and the Tribunal Service nationwide, further enhancing the Group's position as one of the UK's leading service providers and as a principle supplier to the Wider Police Family.

The seven contracts, which are worth in excess of £20 million, will commence on 1 April 2007 and will see the company providing security to the nation's magistrates, crown and county courts and tribunals and build on a successful 15-year relationship between the two parties.

As part of the new agreement, MITIE Security will take over responsibility for the court security in the London and South East regions as well as continuing to deliver services to the extended HMCS portfolio in the existing five regions that MITIE already managed.

MITIE's team of 1,200 specialist court security officers will be supported by highly trained relief officers to ensure the consistent delivery of over 47,000 hours of security each week at more than 400 sites.

The courts team will undertake a wide range of duties including front of house, access control, CCTV monitoring and car park management duties all with the aim of helping HMCS staff in creating a comfortable, secure environment for all court users.

A spokesperson for the Department for Constitutional Affairs commented "MITIE Security provided the best value proposition overall. We look forward to continuing to work with them and to make further improvements to the delivery of security to the courts."

Jeff Flanagan, Managing Director, MITIE Security, commented: "We are delighted to be building upon our long-term relationship with HM Courts Service and to have secured these significant contracts. We recognise that it is imperative for our team to play their part in creating a comfortable environment for all staff and visitors to the UK courts and we are passionate about working with HMCS to ensure that we continue to deliver a consistently high quality service."
