Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies fulfilled vital access and security requirements of Big Yellow
Thirty-five refurbished and 11 newly-planned Big Yellow self-storage sites are being fitted with Dor-O-Matic slide automated door-opening systems, aluminium security shutters and Martin Roberts steel doorsets. The systems are supplied by Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies.

Big Yellow, the leading self-storage brand in London and the South of England, asked Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies to fulfil vital access and security requirements whilst ensuring long life cycle performance and minimising maintenance costs.

The Dor-O-Matic slide is a reliable and versatile system available in both bi-parting and single configurations. Incorporating adjustable opening and closing speeds, the door has automatic opening sensors and an effective width of up to 1000mm. It is a particularly good solution when access is required for heavy pedestrian traffic and for applications where extra wide openings are needed to facilitate the movement of large packages. Safety features include motion detectors, threshold safety beams and sensors, electric locking, panic breakout, monitored battery pack and manual operation function. Other features which make it a fully versatile automatic

Martin Roberts' steel doorsets are popular for this very demanding type of facility where strength, durability and aesthetics combine to provide high performance and low maintenance. The Security steel doorsets and Fire Resistant doorsets are durable, impact resistant, unaffected by moisture and will not warp or rot. They offer high level protection against vandalism, casual and opportunist theft and create an effective barrier against intruders. The unique bevelled door skin is specially designed to resist ‘jemmy' attack. The doorsets have also been successfully tested for strength and durability to one million cycles, guaranteeing long term performance and eliminating the need for continual maintenance.

Ingersoll Rand's ability to provide solutions to all their requirements, as well as providing an ongoing maintenance contract were key factors in Big Yellow's supplier selection.
