ACTi's SED-2310Q video server has been successfully implemented in Cisco's wireless video monitoring system for the Cheever Racing/Crown Royal Daytona Prototype team in the Grand American Road Racing Series.

There are four analog cameras mounted at different locations on the race car to monitor different areas such as the driver's upper body movements, the view in the front, the view in the back, etc.  The ACTi SED-2310Q compresses the input to real-time, full D1 @ 30 fps MPEG-4 video and the video is transmitted using Cisco's wireless solution to a mobile trailer parked to the side of the race track for monitoring and recording.  The ACTi SED-2310Q is able to transmit by Multicast Without Control protocol to allow multiple recipients to see the same video without delaying the video orincreasing the bandwidth required.

Because of ACTi's well-built video server that can withstand the tough vibrations from the race car during the runs and because of the video server's ultra low bandwidth requirement, network based race car monitoring and recording through a wireless infrastructure is made possible.
