VARIO’s interchangeable lens system means that users need never be caught with the wrong angle illuminator again, or lighting which can’t be altered if the site or operational requirements change – a problem with fixed angle illuminators. VARIO is designed as one product to deliver multiple angles with the flexibility to change the lens insert on site to match the camera field of view, offering beam angles of 10, 35, 60, 80 and 120 degrees all from a single unit.
In addition, VARIO interchangeable lenses utilise holographic technology to create a highly diffused beam which scatters the light for a softer and more even spread of illumination, with no dark areas around the edges of the CCTV image.
In conjunction with this, VARIO’s HRT system uses an elliptical (oval) beam pattern which is crucial to delivering enhanced night-time CCTV images. Most illuminators produce a circular beam pattern, but VARIO’s elliptical beam is wide horizontally, but more narrow vertically. It outputs less light pollution up into the sky and less light into the immediate foreground, reducing hot-spots or overexposure of subjects which are closer to the camera. Subjects at different depths on scene will be more evenly illuminated – producing a much better CCTV image. With a more focused and targeted beam, VARIO also generates longer distances than traditional illuminators.
“Users should no longer accept poor night-time CCTV images which are grainy and cannot be used for identification purposes due to badly designed lighting”, comments David Lambert, Raytec’s Sales and Marketing Director. “The right lighting designed for the specific scene requirements is crucial to assisting the camera in achieving the best images at night – VARIO helps integrators and users do this in the easiest way possible”.
