Transaction expands TAC's presence, expertise in North Carolina

TAC, a world leader in building automation, security systems and energy solutions, has acquired one of its leading business partners, Applied Control Technology, headquartered in Raleigh, N.C. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.  Applied, founded in 1982, delivers a broad base of building environment solutions, mainly in North Carolina, with a workforce of 130 employees.

Applied is made up of a broad set of business units, including controls, security, fire, mechanical service and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC).  The company provides HVAC and refrigeration systems installations and building automation and control systems integration, service, and support.  In addition, Applied provides fire, life safety and security equipment, service, and sales through Applied Systems Technology, a state-licensed fire and security division.  Additional offices are located in Charlotte, Kernersville and Greenville, N.C.

"Acquiring Applied Control Technologies will provide critical mass in TAC's existing operations in North Carolina and increase service revenues for TAC with a broader customer base," said Dean Meyer, president of TAC.  "Furthermore, the acquisition increases TAC's security and fire expertise in this region and improves our ability to sell integrated systems. It also provides expanded local execution capability in the area."  Customers will benefit from a larger, combined TAC service organization and access to a wider range of solutions.

Applied's operations will be merged with TAC's existing Systems Integration business in the area.  Applied serves a variety of markets in the Carolinas, including commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical and biotechnology, healthcare, municipal, and education, which are complementary to TAC's customer base.
