Chiron's IRIS IP solution gains popularity in Netherlands

Dutch security systems installer Ricor Security reports that an increasing number of its customers in the Netherlands are enjoying the multiple benefits of Chiron Security Communications' 21st century IRIS intruder alarm monitoring solution - the fastest growing IP security monitoring system across Europe.

Ricor Security's proprietor, Cor Van Emmerik says IRIS IP alarm diallers and ARC receivers are allowing a wide range of end users such as banks, jewellers, pharmaceutical outlets and aircraft cargo operators to make use of IP networks to cost-effectively, speedily and reliably transmit signals from alarm panels on-site. "Compared with the costlier AL-2 communications links used for higher risk alarm signal transmission in the Netherlands, an IRIS system will allow a customer to pay for the equipment and its installation within two years, meaning further operational cost savings are accrued thereafter," he declares.

"IRIS provides important back-up transmission paths and that combined with its full EN50131 and 50136 approval provides the reassurance that enables us to specify it for additional uses in providing personal VIP protection."

Ricor Security, which installs CCTV, alarm, fire and access control systems, is also finding success with IRIS in the market for care of the elderly. IRIS diallers are being supplied embedded within Cooper Security alarm panels, providing communications capability for sheltered housing and care homes, where the equipment's cost-effectiveness enables the owners and managers of such facilities to enjoy the benefits too.

"We like the ease of installation that IRIS ‘one-box' solutions provide," Mr Van Emmerik adds, "and we also receive very good service from Chiron, such as occasional times when we encounter an operational issue during a site install. The company is always quick to help us out and that high level of support is one reason why we've consistently bought Chiron's systems over the years."

"IRIS is now supported by around 100 monitoring centres across Europe and is applicable to all systems from high security to residential," says Mr van Emmerik

"Ricor Security's applications for IRIS follow its use by other organisations including travel chain Thomas Cook, High St retailers Halfords, Toys ‘R' Us and Topps Tiles, financial institutions such as Danske Bank, Coventry Building Society and National IRISh Bank, as well as schools, petrol station operators, chemist chains and a variety of other companies," says Chiron Security Communications' Major Accounts Manager, John Jongsma.

"IRIS is now supported by around 100 monitoring centres across Europe and is applicable to all systems from high security to residential. Many alarm panel manufacturers are also now offering IRIS technology embedded within their panels, while an increasing number of insurers are backing the system too."

The IRIS system offers secure primary and back-up communications routes between a monitored site and alarm receiving centre, while providing the ability to make tangible operating cost savings and significantly adding value to a company's existing IT network. Its advantages also include faster alerting, cheaper line monitoring, a range of value-added services such as visual verification of alarm alerts and building management system monitoring, plus improved network resilience. End users benefit from an improved service that links future-proof technology with the opportunity of genuine and sizeable reductions in their monitoring costs.
