The Iris system offers secure primary routes between a monitored site and alarm receiving centre |
Situated in Billund, in the Jutland region of Denmark, LEGO Security is passing on the benefits of Iris' alarms-over-IP monitoring cost savings, added value functionality and future-proof technical capabilities to its commercial customers. The company has commissioned Chiron to supply its Iris 800 and 840 diallers, which link to an alarm panel's standard PSTN dialler and convert the analogue signal for transmission across an IP network. Within the 800 range are versions with GPRS, PSTN or ISDN backup paths for dual dialling for peace of mind.
The Iris alarm transmission and monitoring system also offers full insurance recognition as a result of its independent certification by two leading European test houses to the highest grade 4 (ATS-6) risk category under the European systems standards BS EN50130, 50131 and 50136.
"This is another high profile application for Iris, following its use by organisations including travel chain Thomas Cook, High St retailers Halfords, Toys ‘R' Us and Topps Tiles, financial institutions such as Danske Bank, Coventry Building Society and National Irish Bank, as well as schools, petrol station operators, chemist chains and a variety of other companies," says Chiron Security Communications' Corporate Account Manager, Vikram Datar.
"Iris is now supported by nearly 90 monitoring centres across Europe and is applicable to all systems from high security to residential. Many alarm panel manufacturers are also now offering Iris technology embedded within their panels, while an increasing number of insurers are backing the system too."
The Iris system offers secure primary and back-up communications routes between a monitored site and alarm receiving centre, while providing the ability to make tangible operating cost savings and significantly adding value to a company's existing IT network. Its advantages also include faster alerting, cheaper line monitoring, a range of value-added services such as visual verification of alarm alerts and building management system monitoring, plus improved network resilience. End users benefit from an improved service that links future-proof technology with the opportunity of genuine and sizeable reductions in their monitoring costs.

Security professionals, rather than IT experts, can install Iris Touch while commissioning the equipment is akin to the ease of setting up a home broadband connection. The key to this simplicity is a specially designed touch-screen interface and an intuitive laptop program that makes each step clear, self-explanatory and self-correcting.
Iris Touch offers all the advantages of alarms-over-IP transmission and monitoring technology, including substantial operational cost savings), remote troubleshooting, remote CCTV camera control and proven network resilience through constant dual-path back-up communication via PSTN, GSM or GPRS routes.
