Fluidmesh 2200 wireless units take advantage of two radios simultaneously, operating one radio in the 2.4GHz and the other one in the 5GHz range
AENA opts for Fluidmesh video surveillance system to install in La Palma aiport
AENA, one of the companies which oversee all the Spanish airports, has opted to install Fluidmesh products for the video-surveillance system of La Palma Airport.  With the precious help of Casmar Electronica the airport set in the Gran Canaria Island can now count on an innovative wireless technology developed by the American MIT spin-off Fluidmesh Networks.

The Fluidmesh 2200 is the only wireless mesh networking product designed and manufactured specifically for video-surveillance applications.  Every Fluidmesh 2200 series wireless unit not only transmits the video streams coming from the cameras directly attached to it, but also dynamically routes packets coming from other Fluidmesh units through the optimal path.

The dual radio configuration dramatically improves both performance and reliability.

A significant strength of the Fluidmesh 2200 is its advanced internal prioritisation and optimisation system, capable of detecting the type of packet transmitted (i.e., TCP, UDP, etc.) and the video-encoding standard employed (i.e., MPEG4 I-frame, MEPG4 P-frame, M-JPEG), optimising the transmission based on the packet type and its characteristics.

"This installation in the La Palma airport maximises the strength of Fluidmesh technology in all the problematic sites," says Umberto Malesci, Fluidmesh Networks' President and co-founder.  "We are very glad that our products represent a secure choice for the end users who absolutely need security at all times. Additionally, Fluidmesh architecture is optimal for a location such as an airport; airplanes taxing on the ground are unpredictable and moveable sources of interference.  The Fluidmesh technology is able to automatically find alternative paths in case some of the links are not available due to interference".

"The installer decided to install Fluidmesh products because of their ease of use," explains Jordi Alonso, Casmar Electronica CCTV Product Manager.  "A Fluidmesh system is more affordable than another wireless application.  Because the Fluidmesh 2200 is a router it works simultaneously as a transmitter and a receiver.  Moreover, in this installation the multi hop system enabled the units to be installed far away from the control room, without the need for line of sight.  During the installation, other Fluidmesh units were set up from the monitored area to the control room to ensure a secure path for the video streaming."

"A Fluidmesh system is more affordable than another wireless application.  Because the Fluidmesh 2200 is a router it works simultaneously as a transmitter and a receiver," says Jordi Alonso

With the innovative Fluidmesh technology, cameras can be moved depending on the needs of the airport creating dynamic wireless bridges.  In the event one camera was not working, the others would still be able to keep streaming video by changing the wireless links in use.
