The Identicom 877c device includes a camera, the first to be incorporated into a dedicated lone worker device
Connexion2’s 8 Series Identicom has been shortlisted for “Lone Worker Protection Solution of The Year”

Connexion2’s new 8 Series Identicom has been shortlisted for the new “Lone Worker Protection Solution of The Year” award at the IFSEC and FIREX Awards 2013.  The category celebrates and acknowledges technical innovation and excellence in devices that have been specifically designed with lone workers in mind.

Launched at IFSEC last year, Connexion2’s 8 Series Identicom range has proved immensely popular due to its smaller size and extended functionality including one or two-way audio as well as updated GPS technology. The improved communication technology can be utilised to gain a greater understanding of an incident in a risk appropriate situation such as when a user suffers from a ‘Man Down’ incident due to a slip, trip or fall.

The Identicom 877c device includes a camera, the first to be incorporated into a dedicated lone worker device.  When the user conducts a ‘Status Check’, the device will take a still image of the situation, which is then uploaded to the client’s Mobile Workforce Management Platform.

Unlike many other lone worker devices, the 8 Series Identicom benefits from flexible software updates, which can be carried out over the air, whilst the device is being worn. Other improvements include non-discreet, multi-function buttons located on the front of the device beneath the user’s ID card. Reducing the need for mobile phones, the buttons can trigger the device to call or send an SMS text message to pre-defined numbers such as the office or a Manager.

Identicom retains its appearance as a standard identity card holder giving easy wear, discreet use and peace of mind for staff working outside close or direct supervision. Three times winner of the Security Excellence Awards as well as other prestigious awards, Identicom is the leading, dedicated lone worker device with over 100,000 users worldwide. It was also the first dedicated lone worker device to achieve Police approval through ACPO’s ‘Secured by Design’ status. In 2012 Connexion2 was the first company to be approved against the updated BS8484: 2011 standard.

Craig Swallow, Managing Director of Connexion2 commented: “We’re delighted to have been short-listed for this prestigious award.  Recently, Connexion2 was the first to receive BS8484: 2011 approval, enabling us to remain at the forefront of innovation in the lone worker market and I believe that the 8 Series Identicom is a testament to the fact that we continue to lead the way in lone worker protection.”

The Awards will take place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel on Monday, 13th May.
