Zandar Technologies, a leading innovator in the design and development of high resolution image processing and control systems, has announced the successful installation of numerous Predator VC16 MultiViewers in an innovative new security and surveillance monitoring demonstration facility at Computacenter, Europe's leading independent provider of IT infrastructure services based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, UK.

Zandar Technologies has long been developing and expanding their range of MultiViewers to accommodate the demands of superior professional video display applications in extensive and diverse industries.

This latest installation emphasizes the role of the Zandar MultiViewers within an advanced CCTV security environment in a project endorsed and jointly funded by Computacenter, IBM and RCT Engineering.

Located at the Computacenter facility in Hatfield, the advanced demonstration suite is used by technical pre-sales and sales staff to showcase the benefits of digital surveillance to new and potential clients, including major blue chip companies.  In addition to Zandar's image processing technologies, the security system seamlessly uses advanced facial recognition, object movement and tracking and automatic number plate technologies, with industry leading storage and server technology provided by IBM.

Neill Burton, Program Executive at Computacenter explains the reason for investment: "As digital surveillance is becoming more critical in our clients' business, we have seen their infrastructure requirements becoming more aligned with their business applications.  This trend allows Computacenter to bring its experience of delivering mission critical IT solutions to this market and to complement the niche players, so enabling security departments to significantly reduce costs in manpower and maintenance by implementing smart detection and prevention technologies."

As a real-world working example of a typical security control centre, feeds from 48 existing analogue security cameras at specified locations in the Computacenter warehouse are digitally encoded.  The Zandar Predator VC16 MultiViewer systems are used for the simultaneous display of these video signals, along with ancillary computer and audio feeds onto three plasma screens at the site.  Each MultiViewer system can support up to 16 sources with high resolution images of up to SXGA+, WUXGA and beyond produced in real-time to offer true live video monitoring.  The Predator VC16 system has the ability to display built-in video & power alarms, camera/source labelling and features advanced control with intuitive Z-Configurator software for layout design and configuration.  Multiple layout presets and templates can be accessed at the touch of a button using the LAN remote control interface incorporated in the Predator VC16 MultiViewer.

The Zandar MultiViewers were chosen for the facility by project designer and integrator, RCT Engineering.  Toby Nightingale, Technical Director explains "Our objective was to provide customers with the next generation solution for security surveillance, and so rather than using CRT monitors, we chose Zandar whose expertise lies in the control and manipulation of images in the digital domain."

Nightingale adds, "The image quality produced is the best you can get in the market place and it provides us with total flexibility as well as space saving design and heat dissipationThe Predator VC16 is so easy to use and perfectly complements our RCT CP16 encoders."

"The past year has seen a tremendous increase in the demand for live video surveillance monitoring using the Zandar MultiViewer solution and we are confident this new, state-of-the-art system will take Computacenter to the head of the field in IT-based security surveillance monitoring," adds Deirdre Smith, CEO at Zandar Technologies.  "The Predator VC/VS range is available in fixed configurations of 12 and 16 inputs and now features the sophisticated Zandar Dual Head (ZdH) facility which ultimately provides two MultiViewers in one chassis, with outstanding cost savings.  With the ability to seamlessly assign video/data sources across two displays at any one time the Predator systems offer the ultimate flexibility in the control room."
