Visimetrics have recently added IP-based OCTAR Net NVRs to the University of Wolverhampton's cross-campus CCTV system providing a hybrid recording solution to over 270 cameras.Visimetrics, manufacturers of the Digital Evidence Recorder, have recently added IP-based OCTAR Net NVRs to the University of Wolverhampton's cross-campus CCTV system providing a hybrid recording solution to over 270 cameras.  The University's CCTV recording system now spans the three campus areas of Wolverhampton, Walsall and Telford in the UK's West Midlands.

The recent upgrade adds to the existing recording system of OCTAR System DVRs sited across many of the University's facilities.  As the University's estate has grown, so has the requirement for adding further provision for CCTV across all campuses.

Scott Thompson, Managing Director, Thompson AVC, explains, "We initially deployed OCTAR System DVRs around the existing campuses utilising traditional analogue cameras.  As the system grew with the University's expansion we had to incorporate an IP-based solution to deliver the CCTV system across such vast geographical areas economically.  OCTAR Net was the obvious choice to provide the University with a fully integrated solution."

The University's existing recording solution of OCTAR System DVRs has seamlessly been incorporated to create a fully integrated recording solution across the entire property estate.  Visimetrics CONTROL user interface provides operators with a single point of access to view, control and archive any camera from any location regardless of source.  The capability and ease of use of CONTROL has also enabled the University to provide direct access to the local police authorities force liaison officer.  Incident investigations can now be achieved directly by the police reviewing the recordings without the assistance of site security operators, maximising use Visimetrics have recently added IP-based OCTAR Net NVRs to the University of Wolverhampton's cross-campus CCTV system providing a hybrid recording solution to over 270 cameras.of resources and cost savings.

"I'm delighted with the efficiency, practicality and performance this solution provides the University," confirms Visimetrics Managing Director, Barry Rooney.  "As the system has grown organically, we have been adding OCTAR System DVRs though with the incorporation of OCTAR Net NVRs, the University now has a true hybrid solution with a unified means of managing and operating traditional and IP-based recording systems cross-campus."
