Stanley Security’s D-4990 low energy swing door operator fits a variety of public facilities applications, including hospitals and elderly care/assisted living facilities
The D-4990 Low Energy Swing Door Operator opens and closes the door slowly in a controlled format

STANLEY Security, a leading provider of access control and integrated security solutions, showcased its D-4990 Low Energy Swing Door Operator at the ASIS International 59th Annual Seminar and Exhibits (ASIS 2013), September 24-27 in Chicago, IL.

STANLEY Security’s D-4990 Low Energy Swing Door Operator is an electromechanical unit designed to provide safe, convenient, automatic and/or minimum manual operating force ingress and egress assistance, and is particularly beneficial for those entry points with ADA ease of accessibility requirements. The D-4990 Low Energy Swing Door Operator opens and closes the door slowly in a controlled format, providing the user – particularly the physically impaired – adequate time to negotiate the entry/exit.

The unit incorporates a motorised system to power the door opening cycle through an actuating signal. Included within the assembly is a STANLEY D-4550 Heavy-Duty Door Closer, controlled with mechanical hydraulic adjustment to efficiently complete the closing cycle. The D-4990 Low Energy Swing Door Operator offers additional electromechanical features to provide adjustment to suit the specifications of each respective application, as well as the following benefits:

  • Robust door operator design: Meets the requirements of the ADA and the provisions of ANSI 159.19
  • Easy to adjust: Configured with over five optional settings to accommodate many different applications – i.e: push and go, power-close and hold-open functions
  • Easy to operate: Customised hold-open setting can hold the door open indefinitely
  • Unique, patented design: Patented cam design provides low resistance when operating the door manually
  • Stock friendly: Non-handed design and universal mounting plate
  • Reliable STANLEY Heavy Duty Door Closer: The close cycle is controlled by the STANLEY D-4550 Heavy-Duty Door Closer, which is manufactured using a special blend of silicon aluminum alloy
  • Versatility: Compatible with BEST electric strikes or STANLEY electric latch retraction (ELR) exit devices, and also integrates with other manufacturers’ products
  • User-friendly: The power-open operates via hardwired or wireless actuators, essentially any “knowing act,” providing additional assistance to those that may need it
  • Increased energy savings: By selecting the power-close option, the door will overcome interior stack pressure or windy conditions with an additional latching force – reducing the potential for heating and cooling loss
  • Flexibility: Can be used on vestibule applications with coordinated operations between interior and exterior doors, which reduces drafts and noise from exterior exposure
  • Easy to maintain: Few moving components accompanied with two independent, internal cycle-counters that provide current data for the mechanical and electrical operations

“Since the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990, STANLEY Security has been the leader in providing customers with automated door solutions”

The D-4990 Low Energy Swing Door Operator fits a variety of public facilities applications, including hospitals, elderly care/assisted living facilities, as well as in the retail, education, hotel/hospitality and banking markets.

“Since the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990, STANLEY Security has been the leader in providing customers with automated door solutions,” said Mike McCoy, Product Manager – Exits/Closers for STANLEY Security. “Low energy operators serve as a vital role in providing safe and reliable navigation through the respective entry/exit applications requiring additional assistance.”

“In comparison to other low energy door operators on the market, the D-4990 Low Energy Swing Door Operator can more efficiently accommodate high traffic flow in public facilities, while still providing physically impaired individuals with easier ingress and egress,” McCoy continued. “It’s a great solution to offer assistance and access for those who need it without interrupting daily traffic.”
