Vicon Industries, Inc. (“Vicon”), trusted designer and producer of video security systems and high-performance IP cameras, announced recently that its new IQeye 12MP camera (IQ8712NE-V18) is now available. Offering 6 times the pixels of 1080p HD, the superior resolution combined with magnified detail provide increased opportunities for improved investigation and business intelligence. Combine that performance with the possibility of reducing your overall system costs and you have a camera that can’t be beat. In keeping with the New Vicon directive to drive standards-based interoperation, the 12 MP camera is supported by the current version of ViconNet VMS.

Offers superior resolution

This new camera (model IQ8712NE-V18) not only offers a superior resolution of 12MP but also the ability to zoom in to achieve 40 ppf forensic quality; it is one of the only cameras to provide 30 fps @ QFHD and 15 fps @ 12MP/4K. Additionally, since these cameras cover very large areas, fewer system cameras are required, reducing cost.

Can be installed in the harshest of conditions

With an adaptive all-in-one housing for wall/ceiling/parapet mounting, rugged aluminum construction, innovative heater and IP66 weather resilience, the camera can be installed in almost any environment, even in the harshest of conditions. An integrated back box enables easier installation. Its dual-core CPU provides the 12MP camera with the unique ability to deliver multi-streaming while running computationally intensive applications such as recording and analytics on the edge.

“Not only does this camera capture wider scenes and forensic details from a greater distance, it is also one of the few 4K/12MP cameras to offer integration with a VMS system” says Bret McGowan, Sr. Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
