The British Library is the of the world's greatest libraries. They receive a copy of every publication produced in the UK and Ireland and their collection includes no less than 150,000,000 items, including the Magna Carta and Leonardo da Vinci's Notebook. The British Library serves business and industry, researchers, academics and students in the UK and across the world.
The British Library runs a number of exhibitions throughout the year at its St. Pancras site, which are open to the general public. These exhibitions are essentially short-term, with movement of display areas, cabinets and stands and required a flexible wireless security solution to protect Museum visitors and assets. In addition, with the British Library being a Heritage Site, it was important to limit physical cabling.
The Verint Networked Video solution takes signals from 8-colour cameras via the Nextiva™ S1700 video encoders, which transmit this video over a secure wireless IP network. The solution also incorporates Verint's video management software.
Timescales were tight, with installation being completed at very short notice in May 2006, in time for a Royal visit, from Her Majesty the Queen.
