Visitors to the Traka stand (T42, Hall 2) will also see the company's fork truck control system. Traka's intelligent keys ‘iFobs' can make conventional keys for fork trucks a thing of the past. Each iFob is assigned to an individual driver whereby it becomes the intelligent key itself and will only give the driver access to the equipment for which he/she is authorised. Furthermore, the system software not only records faults and damage to trucks but also, if a driver's licence has expired, has the ability to withhold the iFob. Traka's shock sensor and immobiliser goes one stage further, recording collision impacts to trucks. The sensor can also be configured to automatically ‘lock out' the truck if the impact is above a pre-determined threshold.
Demonstrations on the Traka stand will include its Dock Door control solutions. For ‘Goods In' vehicle loading bays, Traka now has an ingenious locking device to prevent dock-door ‘drive-offs'. A special control mechanism integrates with the system controlling the dock or warehouse door and uses an iFob to prevent removal of the drivers keys whilst the loading operation is taking place. This enables the vehicle keys to be securely locked during loading and unloading thereby improving safety for fork truck drivers, preventing accidents and reducing damage.
For ‘Goods Out' applications, Traka's unique iLock isolates a decoupled trailer and is directly interlocked with the relevant dock door control mechanism to ensure a safe working environment until the loading operation is complete. The iLock is fitted to the trailer airline but this can only be done once the brake line has been disconnected thus applying the brakes and preventing the trailer from being moved. The Traka system eliminates ‘drive offs' by ensuring that drivers cannot pull trailers away from ‘Goods Out' bays before the loading bay has been made safe. Total auditing is also ensured with drivers' details and actions recorded for the generation of reports that may be stored indefinitely.
