TeleEye RX Series Video Recording Server guarded a large shopping mall in the Philippines and assisted in catching the perpetrator in a recent murder case.
On June the 30th, a 22-year-old father asked his former wife and his three-year-old daughter to go to a shopping mall with him. In the mall, the couple went separate ways, the father with the daughter. When the couple met again, the father claimed that the daughter went away and he lost his daughter. A few days later, the daughter's body was found floating in a creek.
The police reviewed the high quality video recorded by TeleEye RX3616 Video Recording Server installed in the shopping mall. The required video footage was extracted easily via the built-in DVD writer of the TeleEye RX3616 for investigation. Incorporating the world's first multi-stream video coding technology, SMAC-M, the TeleEye RX3616 clearly captured the video of the father leaving the mall with his daughter and coming back to the mall 3 minutes later without the child.
After viewing the video, the police were able to develop a clear lead to the father for the crime. The police confronted the father with the snapshot printouts from the mall, which clearly showed the location, date, time, and camera information from the TeleEye unit. The father did not deny that he and his daughter were the ones captured on the surveillance camera. He later admitted to killing his daughter.
The same imagery from the TeleEye RX3616 later served as important evidence and assisted in gaining the conviction.
With the breakthrough in conditional frame replenishment coding and advanced error handling features, TeleEye RX ensures quality of every single picture for evidential purpose. The recorded video clearly showed the faces of the father and daughter. TeleEye RX3616's built-in DVD writer enabled the police to easily extract the video footage as evidence. Later, the father admitted that he stabbed his daughter and threw her into the creek near the mall. The father was slapped with patricide charges and sent to prison.
