One of the UK-based largest banks in the world has recently specified TeleEye CX784 video recording servers for its ATM sites, including self-banking centres all over the Asia Pacific region.  They have commenced the installation in Hong Kong and the project will be continued in other Asia Pacific countries.

Some of the main reasons for selecting TeleEye CX784 are listed in the following:

1) Efficient compression

Our proprietary SMAC-M compression in CX784 is proven to be much more efficient than the MPEG-4 being used in their existing old DVRs.  The bank requires recording at 2fps on each camera in CIF resolution with a retention period of 3 months.  CX784 can fulfil the above requirements for up to 4 cameras with a SATA 750GB HDD.  It is believed that a simpler hardware configuration and a lower HDD count would definitely enhance the system's reliability in the long run.

On the other hand, the bank's security control room requires monitoring live videos of an ATM site through their corporate network when an alarm is raised.  Nonetheless, they can allocate no more than 64kbps for the remote video monitoring application.  The multi-stream design and the efficiency of SMAC-M is definitely a big advantage with such limited network resources.

2) Stringent network security

As CX784 servers would be connected to the corporate network of the bank, it is necessary to fulfill all the network security requirements.  For instance, all CX784's support the IP filtering function. Users can define IP address ranges that are exclusively allowed or excluded for establishing communication with a CX video recording server.  Also, the transmission of usernames and passwords in the login authentication of CX784 complies with the 256-bit International AES encryption standards.

3) Compact size

The small footprint of CX video recording servers, especially CX784 and CX788, makes the installation inside the tiny standalone ATMs much easier.

4) Seamless integration into the bank's security management portal

HSBC uses TeleEye CX784 video recording server for ATM sites in Asia

The bank is currently managing all security including CCTV, alarm and access control, etc. of all their ATM sites through a web-based portal.  Our ActiveX SDK allows the bank to integrate the TeleEye video into their existing portal easily.

5) Active HDD health check

CX video recording servers can be configured to perform the "health checking" of its HDD continuously.  If a certain data error is detected, the CX video recording server will report the event back to the bank's security control room automatically.  The security personnel can then take appropriate actions to fix the problem and minimize the down-time of the recording as much possible.

6) Easy video footage extraction

In case there is an event such as a card fraud transaction reported in an ATM site, the bank's security personnel can easily extract the required video clips into a USB flash drive.  The extracted video is password-protected and can be played back on any PC without the need of pre-installing a software program.

7) Speedy swap out

CX configuration parameters can be exported to a USB flash drive after the commissioning work is completed.  If the CX video recording server needs to be taken out from the site for servicing in the future, its configuration parameters can be easily transferred from the USB flash drive to a new machine for rapid replacement.  It greatly simplifies the working procedures and minimizes the chance of having any configuration error in the new replacement machine.
