A whole range of products from Siemens Building Technologies (BT), including a fire alarm system and 1,200 Sinteso fire detectors, have been utilized as part of a ‘single-source' solution for the Moevenpick Hotel in Frankfurt.
Integration and interoperability are an essential focus for Siemens Building Technologies and this was clearly in evidence in a project which saw Siemens fulfil a brief for a life-cycle approach to implementing a full electrical and building automation package.
Siemens fire protection, building automation, access control, power supply and electrical installation technology were all involved in the construction of the Moevenpick Hotel Frankfurt City, located in the middle of the new Europaviertel district being developed on the site of a former freight yard.
The 288-bed, four-star hotel by developer Hochtief/Bilfinger Berger consortium was commissioned by the Vivico real estate company. By opting for a ‘single-source' solutions concept from Siemens Building Technologies, the business partners were able to make substantial savings, with the knowledge base distinctions which conventionally exist between electrical engineering and instrumentation and control being largely eliminated by adopting this approach.
An integral element of the project was the fire alarm system which featured over 1,000 Sinteso fire detectors, ensuring that even the slightest occurrence of smoke or fire is swiftly detected and the alarm raised. With false alarms being a significant issue for the hotel sector due to the considerable potential for disruption to guests and hotel personnel, the Siemens Guarantee against False Alarms on Sinteso proved an important factor. Sinteso detectors carry the quality seal of ASAtechnology (Advanced Signal Analysis) and achieve unparalleled levels of detection reliability.
