The publication provides original, vendor-neutral analyses of security technologies from industry leaders

The Security Industry Association has launched a new journal about security technology called SIA Technology Insights.

The publication provides original, exclusive, vendor-neutral analyses of emerging security technologies from industry leaders. Produced with the end-user in mind, SIA Technology Insights is intended to help chief security officers, security directors and others learn about technological developments and trends and identify possible security solutions for their enterprise.

The first edition, which contains articles that are focused on the transition to IP within the industry, was released on June 4 as a printed volume.

“More and more security systems are going online, creating new functionality and enhancing effectiveness,” SIA Board of Directors Chairman Jay Hauhn of Tyco Integrated Security and SIA CEO Don Erickson wrote in the publication’s welcome letter. “This creates new opportunities, as well as new challenges in identifying the appropriate technology for one’s facility. This publication will offer an exclusive look at how IP connections are shaping the industry and what this means to the end-user.”

The publication’s nine articles include examinations of IP video, video analytics, securing a networked security system, privacy issues and other topics.

SIA members and end-users may obtain a complimentary copy by contacting Ron Hawkins, SIA’s manager of member information and partnerships, at rhawkins@siaonline.org. A digital version will be posted soon at www.siaonline.org/techinsights.
