SIA honored Libby Elliott for her work on improving school security and addressing the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning
The award recognises exceptional volunteer contributions to the SIA’s government relations efforts

The Security Industry Association has honoured Libby Elliott, director of government affairs (homeland security) for United Technologies, with the Statesman Award.

The award, which recognises exceptional volunteer contributions to SIA’s government relations efforts, was given to Elliott for her work on issues such as improving school security and addressing the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning, as well as her success in raising the profile and stature of SIA on Capitol Hill.

“Working with the SIA Government Relations team and the other D.C.-based representatives for peer security industry companies has afforded me a unique opportunity to advocate on public safety issues from the private sector perspective,” Elliott said. “This spectrum of advocacy is something I care deeply about. I appreciate that my role with United Technologies Corporation has afforded me the opportunity to work with SIA, and I am truly honored to be part of a great team of government relations professionals.”

SIA CEO Don Erickson lauded Elliott’s work on security and life safety issues.

“Libby has been an invaluable part of SIA’s government relations efforts,” Erickson said. “Her commitment and energy have produced positive results not just for the association, but for the entire security industry.”
