Samsung’s analogue cameras have a new chip inside, the W5 advanced chipset
L to R: SCP-2120 PTZ mini-dome camera, Samsung's W5 chipset, SCB-9050 thermal night vision camera

Samsung Techwin America, a global supplier of video surveillance products combining superior performance and value, is highlighting a new series of analogue cameras that incorporate Samsung's fifth-generation W5 chipset at ISC West 2010. W5 series cameras have been independently developed by Samsung using super-precision image analysis techniques, and advanced three-dimensional noise reduction technology (SSNR III) to deliver superior images.

"Samsung's new W5 series cameras deliver outstanding image quality in a wide variety of configurations to meet the most demanding applications," said Frank DeFina, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, North America, Samsung Techwin America. "These cameras combine features that integrators and users are looking for while demonstrating Samsung's unique combination of high performance and outstanding value."

The new W5 camera series includes the SCD-2080 high-resolution dome camera, the SCP-2120 high-speed PTZ mini-dome, SCB-9050/9051 thermal imaging cameras, the SCO-2120R high resolution waterproof IR camera, and the SCD-2010/2030 fixed dome cameras.

Samsung's SCD-2010/2030 fixed dome cameras feature a resolution of 600 TVL and low light illumination of only 0.15lux

The cameras provide 600 TV lines of resolution and ultra-low light levels. Samsung Super Dynamic Range (SSDR) technology increases the level of visible detail in dark areas while maintaining image clarity in the brighter parts of an image. Samsung's Super Noise Reduction III (SSNR III) is the third generation of noise reduction technology, combining adaptive 2D and 3D filters for less noise and motion blur, even in low light. Highlight Compensation (HLC) reverses bright spots in an image such as headlights to improve overall image detail.

The SCD-2080 high-resolution dome camera provides a 2.8-10mm vari-focal mega lens, offering dual power 24vAC and 12vDC. Equipped with 16X digital zoom capability, and a low light illumination of 0.15 lux, the SCD-2080 provides the latest in motion detection and privacy masking technologies. The SCD-2080 is a true day/night (D/N) camera, with SSDR dark side compensation and SSNR low light compensation.

Samsung's SCP-2120 high-resolution 12X optical zoom PTZ mini-dome camera provides 0.2lux light sensitivity, 360-degree continuous rotation and high-speed pan and tilt at an outstanding 650°/second. The camera also stores up to 255 presets. The flush-type chassis can be ceiling-mounted for discreet monitoring with any interior design.

The SCB-9050/9051 thermal night vision cameras provide detection of objects in pitch darkness. The 24VAC cameras employ a VOC micro bolometer to detect differences in the infrared energy of objects and their background, and then convert them into electric signals to produce digital images. A colour pattern function makes it easy to detect the temperature of objects.

The SCO-2120R weatherproof high resolution IR camera offers 16X zoom capabilities with up to 50 meters in IR distance. With a resolution of 600 TVL and a 12X built-in lens, the SCO-2120R is equipped with the latest in weatherproof D/N capabilities.

Samsung's SCD-2010/2030 fixed dome cameras feature a resolution of 600 TVL and low light illumination of only 0.15lux using Samsung's SSNRlll low light compensation. Additional features include backlight compensation (BLC) and SSDR dark side compensation, and a choice of 3mm (SCD-2010) or 6mm (SCD-2030) lenses.
