American Fibertek, Inc. (AFI) network hardware and software technologies greatly expand the flexibility and functionality of physical security systems. AFI's components enable customers to leverage the bandwidth, distance and speed advantages of fibre-optic transmission for IP, analogue and hybrid system applications. AFI technology also provides valuable, real-time information on environmental conditions and operational status to manage networks effectively.

"Networked security systems place tremendous demands on infrastructure relative to bandwidth and speed, and have distinct requirements unlike conventional IP systems. When integrated into a network environment fibre optics solve virtually all of these transmission issues," said Jack Fernandes, CEO and President of AFI. "Our V'nes video network enterprise solution and fiber transmission products integrate seamlessly to provide the specific performance and functionality attributes security professionals need today and into the future."

Coinciding with the ASIS 2011 show in Orlando, AFI is making several announcements of new and enhanced products designed specifically for professional security and video surveillance applications, including:

  • A new series of Ethernet mini-switches to extend the bandwidth, distance and speed advantages of fibre-optic transmission to networked systems, with modules compatible with single- or multimode fibre and providing a range of transmission speeds.
  • The Net I/O line of network communication devices that enable real-world alarm contacts, auxiliary outputs and data to travel across the network and eliminate the distance limitations of physical contacts.
  • A complete line of IP/analogue bridging products incorporating a mini (two copper port) Ethernet switch with up to four channels of video with multiple data, audio or contact closure signals on a single fibre.
  • Release of the latest version (v4.5) of the Pilot enterprise video management system, providing enhanced client- and server-related features and new software drivers to support integration of even more video, audio and data products, environmental sensors and network switches.

In addition to AFI's industry renowned line of fibre optic transceivers and components, AFI is also continually updating its innovative V'nes (Video Network Enterprise Solution) - a comprehensive network transmission system designed to optimize system integration, monitoring and control. V'nes also features an "Open Path" for integration with virtually any IP-based products, servers and software, facilitating easy integration and migration to future system enhancements. V'nes also offers the unique ability to provide environmental system monitoring capabilities with alert notification to ensure continued operation of critical components such as DVRs/NVRs that are prone to damage from prolonged operation and heat.
