The solution enables maintenance of any devices, extra one-to-one training, all mobile network airtime and implementation of individual escalation procedures
800 Identicom devices, face-to-face training of over 800 staff will be rolled as per the contract

Reliance High-Tech has announced a three-year contract with South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust to provide its market leading lone worker protection, Reliance Protect, to a wide range of lone working healthcare staff. The all-inclusive contract encompasses the roll out of 800 Identicom™ devices, network connection, face-to-face training of over 800 staff, 24/7 monitoring, management support and reporting.

The solution includes maintenance and replacement of any devices, extra one-to-one training, all mobile network airtime, implementation of individual escalation procedures, monthly management reports detailing each user’s alert data and reassignment of devices as required.

The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Service for South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust first adopted lone worker protection technology in 2008.  The team provides confidential services to improve the health, safety and workplace wellbeing of staff employed by the Trust and identified that a large number of staff were found to be frequently at risk when working in the community.

Andy Kane, Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing, South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Reliance Protect is a market leader in this area. We found the Reliance Protect team to be flexible and motivated; they focused on enabling us to reach our goals of ensuring a safer workplace for our lone worker health care staff. The services on offer to our staff are comprehensive and meet the complex needs of a diverse organisation, whilst maintaining a simple approach supported by responsive training and management systems.”

Andy Kane, added, “We needed an all-inclusive package including the ability for moving and sharing of devices, equipment maintenance and management reporting. Reliance Protect offered us all of these things along with comprehensive automated monthly reporting providing drill down on individual usage at the click of a mouse.”

"Our Reliance Protect lone worker protection solution has been rapidly gaining market share since 2009 making it the largest lone worker protection service in the UK..."

Dan Thomas, Sales and Marketing Director, Reliance High-Tech, said, “Our Reliance Protect lone worker protection solution has been rapidly gaining market share since 2009 making it the largest lone worker protection service in the UK, now with over 50,000 users. We are the preferred supplier of lone worker protection to the NHS and this win is a milestone in continuing to deliver the country’s most robust solution in terms of devices, monitoring and management and the most transparent in terms of pricing.”

Reliance Protect is the most regulated and compliant lone worker protection solution available in the UK.  BS8484 accreditation ensures the company, lone worker devices, monitoring and alarm response capability are fit for purpose.  BS5979 is critical for any organisation looking to safeguard workers as it guarantees a swift and automatic emergency including police response.  ISO27001 accreditation is unparalleled in the industry, ensuring company and individual staff data is handled and stored securely and dealt with in complete confidence.

Andy Kane, continued, “Reliance Protect is the chosen solution for lone worker protection, the service  is supported and endorsed by NHS Protect so we had the added assurance that the NHS Business Services Authority had done due diligence.  The breadth of accreditations and compliance gave us the confidence in Reliance Protect’s technical and monitoring capabilities and peace of mind that our data is secure.  The Reliance team have been responsive and met our changing and often challenging requirements – training 800 staff in a two-week window.  The monthly management reports are allowing us to assess where the solution is being used most effectively and to identify problems early and recommend extra training or reassign devices to higher risk staff. “

Reliance High-Tech is currently working with South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust to roll-out the Reliance Protect service to additional staff and working with the Health, Safety and Wellbeing management team to asses other lone worker software and devices.
