ProSYS Integrated Security System was chosen for meeting the strict standards required
SynopSYS enables control and monitoring of security equipment from one management platform

Founded in 1846, Bristol Water plc is a leading water supply company that supplies an average of 280 million liters of safe drinking water a day to over one and a half million residents in the Bristol Region of the UK including parts of Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

The challenge

In addition to their Head Office, Bristol Water operates over 120 dispersed remote sites that vary in size and structure, with over 500 employees and associated contract personnel. These sites contain equipment for the treatment and distribution of (potable) drinking water. They house many different modern technologies from high volume water filtration and pumping equipment to river flow recording and weather monitoring equipment. There are also leisure activities on some sites such as fishing or sailing, and each site has its own unique set of security requirements.

The solution

Bristol Water, together with their security maintenance company, Reliance High-Tech, chose RISCO Group’s ProSYS Intruder panel along with SynopSYS Integrated Security & Building Management PSIM Software Platform as the integrated solution that met all current and future requirements.

Using SynopSYS Integrated Security & Building Management, Bristol Water can monitor and control the ProSYS panels and other security equipment from the Graphical User Interface (GUI). The system is installed in Bristol Water’s Head Office and other remote workstations as necessary, and communicates with the security devices through multiple communication paths.

The platform offers security officers a host of progressive tools such as a Situation Management Module, mandating the operator to act upon an event according to a predefined step-by-step procedure, and a Scheduler Module, which enables the supervisor to schedule a variety of tasks on a one-time or recurring basis.

Following the successful installation of ProSYS and SynopSYS Integrated Security & Building Management, Bristol Water will also be able to investigate the option of installing RISCO Group’s AxesPlus which is likely to be remotely hosted by RSP (RISCO Service Platform). AxesPlus, which is fully integrated with SynopSYS Integreated Security & Building Management, eliminates up-front server hardware and software purchases, and considerably lowers initial and ongoing operating costs of access control, including full redundancy of the database holding the employee’s individual access rights.
