American Dynamics, part of the Security Products business unit of Tyco, the world’s largest pure-play fire protection and security company, announces VideoEdge Micro, a compact version of the popular VideoEdge network video recorder.

Ideal for businesses that have satellite sites with limited space, or smaller businesses that want an IP only solution for their active surveillance needs, VideoEdge Micro is incredibly easy to set up and use.  An embedded PoE switch detects and provides power to IP cameras, while an auto discovery feature identifies and helps to assign IP addresses to cameras on the network.

“Many large enterprises and intensive video users still require that same level of reliable surveillance for smaller remote sites,” said Steve Carney, Director of Video Product Line Management for Tyco Security Products. “VideoEdge Micro fits seamlessly into the victor Client portfolio and extends powerful security to smaller parts of enterprise organisations more economically, without compromising performance.”

VideoEdge Micro includes the sophisticated features such as embedded analytics that the VideoEdge portfolio has become known for. That means that even the smallest retailer can leverage powerful analytics such as heat mapping, dwell and linger and shelf sweep detection to gain essential information about their store operations and customers shopping behaviours.

VideoEdge Micro features one of the highest throughputs for a compact NVR at 80Mbps, enabling users to view high-quality video in real time even through narrow bandwidth connections. Using this innovative dynamics bandwidth feature, the NVR can cap the amount of data transmitted over a LAN when sharing the connection with other devices.
