Vari-focal lenses from California-based Rainbow CCTV have been used at a major bank chain with 400 branches operating throughout Saudi Arabia.
The contract award resulted from an open tender in which Lebanon-based JMIG Enterprise, beat competitors on the price and quality of its offering.
Mr Joseph Geha, Managing Director of JMIG, said: “We are already hopeful of a repeat order based on the track record of the equipment. The fact that these lenses are made in Japan was an important consideration for the client. Rainbow are competitive and their products are of high quality.”
The lenses are deployed in cameras at outdoor and indoor locations. The client plans to expand the scope of the CCTV systems with particular attention being paid to ATMs.
The bank handles finances at every level ranging from individual current accounts to the corporate sector and government departments. A measure of the bank’s market position is the fact that it has 400 branches serving a population of 25 million.
About the lenses
The lenses are Rainbow’s 3-8mm varifocal models. They are notable in that they are available as a day/night unit which corrects the focus shift that occurs when using IR lighting.
These CS-mount lenses are compatible with 1/3 and 1/4” cameras. Maximum relative aperture is 1:1.4 and the minimum object distance is 0.3m. The angular field of view on a 1/3” camera is 92.9°~35.7° horizontal. The lens is available in manual or auto-iris. Operation temperatures are 10 ~ +50°C, the upper range being an important consideration given ambient temperatures in this location.
The lenses feature all-glass optics. They are colour corrected and compatible with all leading camera brands. Like other Rainbow lenses they are covered by a four-year warranty.
