Rainbow’s new OCL Series outdoor colour DSP cameras have been installed in Ireland at a prestigious private school, St Gerards, in Bray near Dublin.
The application of the Rainbow DSP cameras is at a new build project forming an extension to the main school and catering for first-grade pupils. The cameras are operating from the school's entrances, stairwells and playground, serving a building, which has a split-level structure with eight classrooms.
Images are monitored in real time by school staff and also reviewed from digital video recorders. Future plans include networking the system in order to offer remote monitoring and allow central administration staff to observe footage.
The installer is Dublin-based Executive Security, whose manager, Alan Byrne, comments, "We are impressed with these Rainbow cameras since as high quality units for external use which come as an integral, pre-built package, they are currently a niche offering. The labour saving for the integrator is also significant."
About the camera
The 1/3" 480-line camera is a versatile, integrator-friendly solution that combines a weatherproof housing, blower (heater optional), vari-focal lens, adjustable sunshade and dual power (12VDC/24VAC). It is a robust, all-purpose outdoor camera, which can be used in demanding locations and has recently been upgraded with a new mounting bracket to conceal the cabling.
"Plug and play" is an over-used phrase but this equipment could not be simpler to implement, a fact endorsed by the installer on this project. In addition to schools, the unit is suited to parking lot surveillance and entrance/exit security.
