IPL’s Information Security Management System was audited in March by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance
IPL is among the forerunners to transition to the 2013 international security standard

IPL has become one of the first UK organisations to achieve the new ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification for information security. The systems integrator, which specialises in digital innovation and enterprise information management, is among the forerunners in transitioning from the 2005 edition of the international security standard to the latest version.

IPL has been building high-profile secure information systems throughout its 35-year history, including in-air refuelling control software, award-winning financial services systems and applications handling sensitive healthcare data.

It has held ISO/IEC 27001 certification since 2009, and with all certified organisations required to transition to the new 2013 version by October this year, IPL has become one of the first companies to make the step across.

Lyn Penfold, Business Services Director at IPL, in charge of business assurance, said: “We’re delighted to be leading the way in the information security field, and this certification gives our customers the peace of mind that we have the right processes in place to work with and build systems that handle sensitive information.”

Jane O’Hara, Business Assurance specialist at IPL, added: “With people being asked to share more and more personal information with organisations, it’s essential the systems that handle this information are designed and built to protect it, so that customers and the public are able to trust the companies they’re sharing information with.”

IPL’s Information Security Management System was audited in March by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance, and certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2013 in May 2015, certificate number: LRQ 4006360/A.
