The event showcased emerging technologies in telecom, IT, broadcast, Pay TV and digital media

The information technology sector is rapidly growing in Africa, providing a plethora of opportunities for global companies to share their technologies and do business in this continent. Recognising this potential, Exhibitions India Group (EIG) – India’s leading trade promotion organisation had brought its trademark expo “Convergence India” to Africa.

Bringing this expertise to the African market, EIG has organised Convergence Africa World 2015 International ICT exhibition & conference at Oshwal Centre (Parklands), Nairobi, Kenya. The three day expo was held between 17-19 June 2015.

Event showcased emerging technologies

The event showcased emerging technologies in telecom, IT, broadcast, Pay TV and digital media. Participants included industry officials from telecom, IT, broadcasters, radio & television broadcasting solution providers, technology providers, telcos, ISPs, and government representatives among others.

The exhibition and conference was inaugurated by Ambassador D. N. O Awori, Chairman, Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA).

Present at the ceremony were, Mr. Kris Senanu, Chairman, Telecommunication Service Providers of Kenya (TESPOK); and the other eminent personalities attending the expo included Ms. Anne Wangari Kirima, Chairperson, KENINVEST; and Prof Gituro Wainaina, Director General, Kenya Vision 2030, Ambassador of Thailand in Kenya, Pakistan High Commissioner.

Introduced domestic & international companies in African market

The three day long expo not only introduced domestic and international companies in the African market, but also hosted a two day long conference consisting of knowledgeable sessions with senior dignitaries from govt. and corporate.

The conference witnessed industry veterans like Michael Macharia, Chairman- KITOS, Chairman - IT sector Governing board -KEPSA, Founder & CEO -Seven Seas Technologies Group; Dr. Enock Kinara, Postmaster General and CEO, Postal Corporation of Kenya; Prof. Bitange Ndemo, Associate Professor, The University of Nairobi; Eng. John Tanui, CEO, Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA); Joe Frans, CEO of NGB Ghana and TV expert on Africa etc.

Connecting Africa, Internet for All, Future of Africa’s Telecom, Digital Media and ICT Markets, Kenya Vision 2030, Pay TV, The Evolution of Television in Africa and Cloud & Big Data are among some of the key conferences held at Convergence Africa World 2015 expo.

Exhibiting companies included Airtel, Conax, River Silica Technologies, Matrix Comsec, ABOX42 GmbH, Birla Ericsson Optical Limited, Horizon Broadcast Electronics to name a few. The exhibition was bursting with latest technologies in the telecom, broadcast, Internet and media industry.

On the successful completion of the expo, Prem Behl, Chairman, Exhibitions India Pvt. Ltd, said, “With Convergence Africa World 2015 expo, our objective was to provide a platform to deliberate on convergence of services, focusing on new-age technologies and merging business solutions that harness the young population to create a wave of technological transformation in the continent.”

Elaborating further, S.J. Singh, President, Exhibitions India said, “Overall the expo rendered a prolific experience for all participating delegates, exhibitors and visitors. Convergence Africa World will return with a succeeding chapter in June 2016.”

The event is being jointly developed by Exhibitions India Group and AfriEXPOS, a Nairobi based expo organiser.
