Many hundreds of Pelco employees, honoured guests and the public joined together in commemoration of the Fifth Anniversary of September 11, 2001, and to celebrate the lives of the fallen heroes from that day.

"The most profound way to protect the future is to never forget the past.  We must never forget the thousands of innocent men and women who went to work that day and never returned home," explained Pelco President and CEO David L. McDonald.  "I strongly believe that every American now shares this responsibility.   We must never forget."

The solemn ceremony, which began at 8:30 a.m., was held at the California Memorial - a permanent monument in memory of all the victims and fallen heroes of September 11, 2001.  The ceremony included the lowering of the California Memorial flag to half-staff, and a wreath procession with motor escort accompanied by a piped rendition of "Amazing Grace."  A twenty-one-gun salute, Combined Command "Fly Over," and singing of the National Anthem followed.

Honoured guests who attended the ceremony included: Chief Anthony Whitaker from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department, Billy Hayes, FDNY firefighter, and Andy Isolano, former FDNY firefighter.  All were survivors of September 11, 2001.  Other guests included Mr. & Mrs. Butterfield, parents of fallen Marine Lance Cpl. Anthony Butterfield, the Combined Command Military Honour Guard, The NYPD Emerald Society Pipes and Drum Corp, as well as numerous first responders from the local area.

Pelco honours the brave men and women who sacrificed so much in 2001 with an annual September 11th Observance.  Throughout the year, the California Memorial and the California Memorial Museum are open to the public to honour those who were lost and those who survived the attacks on the east coast.
