Urmet has added several new and improved features to its incredibly successful and iconic range of stainless steel door entry panels. The S-Steel now replaces the original K-steel range, which has been selling in the tens of thousands for well over a decade. As testament to Urmet’s dedication to manufacturing excellence the company have maintained the classic and unique design of the K-Steel but they’ve succeeded in making an already outstanding panel, even better.

Originally launched in 2000, the K-Steel was, and still is to this day, the first and only modular stainless steel, vandal resistant panel to be IP45 and IK09 rated. Urmet’s product development team has based their new design around keeping these key performance features whilst at the same time creating a more aesthetically pleasing panel. The new S-steel range is smaller and cleaner looking but at the same time has the robust and quality feel that distinguishes Urmet products from that of other manufacturers.

Paxton proximity reader integration

The panel modules are based on the proven formula used in Urmet’s Sinthesi range so are quicker and easier to install within the frame. More importantly, however, is the fact that it’s now possible to integrate Paxton proximity panel mount readers (Paxton product code –390-135). Commenting on this new feature, Urmet’s sales and marketing director, Mark Hagger, explains why the company has designed the panel to accommodate the Paxton reader: “It was largely down to pressure from our customers who kept on asking us whether it was possible and in the end we decided to make the changes at our factory in Italy”.

DDA compliant

Back lighting LED’s are now white and are pre-arranged for daylight energy saving. The camera LED’s can be disabled so you can permanently power the camera to record the image via a CCTV system. Urmet have enhanced their DDA compliance by adding ‘call in progress’, ‘speak’ and ‘door is open’ voice commands to a new traffic light module and the colour camera now comes as standard with a 120 degree wide angle lens. Inductive loop modules are also still available.

As expected, Urmet has made the new S-Steel compatible with all of their technologies including analogue, digital, 2Voice 2wire and IPervoice IP systems.

As is traditional with Urmet, original K-Steel modules will still be available for a significant time period. A new range of adapter modules are also available when a system updated is required and the existing back boxes need to be reused.
