A problem site blighted by false alarms has had its issues resolved with the installation of a number of BoundaryGard detectors from Optex Europe, the leading detector business.

The high-end residential property has a busy footpath around its perimeter that meant passing pedestrians, dogs or children playing too near the fence would trigger an alarm.

James Poulton, Managing Director of J&F Poulton, was approached to find a solution to the problem and specified four BX80NR and two VX402RVP BoundaryGard detectors. To warn intruders off the site, he also included the TAD Audio Alert system, as he explains: "The previous system was driving the owners mad with false alarms, so I decided on using the BoundaryGard detectors that enabled me to blank out zones where pedestrians would pass," he says.

"The installation was extremely straight forward and since it has been installed there haven't been any false alarms. The owners are more than satisfied."

Three wireless receivers are also part of the set up: two with audio alerts and one linked to a control panel, which triggers an external sounder and activates a speech dialler. One of the audio units is mounted in the bedroom, the other mounted downstairs to activate when anyone approaches the front of the house, giving the homeowner an early alert.

The BX8ONR is ideally designed to protect the immediate perimeter of a building, with an effective range of up to 24 metres. It is developed for the purpose of ‘early warning' - detecting an intruder at the earliest opportunity as Paul Nicholas, Divisional Manager for Optex Europe says:

"The BX80NR offers a reliable and flexible option in new system design as well as an easy retro-fit solution for existing CCTV or intruder systems," he says. "Although primarily designed for external applications, both the original BX80N and wireless BX80NR can also be used internally, providing a viable solution for perimeter sequential confirmation when coupled with other devices to form a sequentially confirmed alarm condition."

The VX402R employs multiple detection pattern technology developed from Optex Europe's long-range external detector range that prevents false activations from small animals and birds. Two discrete detection areas are created and only when an intruder is detected in both areas is an alarm output provided.

Produced by Tad Electronic, the Audio Alert system provides for the connection of up to 16 Optex devices fitted with the TAD wireless system and several receivers can be fitted in a single premises, as Paul adds: "The TAD Audio alert provides a simple to install and operate wireless solution for commercial and residential applications requiring high stability external detection."
