REDSCAN, the innovative laser scan detector designed by Optex has won the Intruder Alarm Product of the Year at IFSEC 2009.

The detector can detect a moving object's size, speed and distance, and process that information with an unique algorithm, resulting in a high-reliability detection of intruders with minimal false alarms.

When mounted vertically, REDSCAN creates a 60-metre detection area that functions like an invisible wall if sited horizontally, it creates a detection area of 30-metres and an arc of 180. With four outputs for remote video applications and four truly programmable detection areas linked with these outputs, REDSCAN is ideal for controlling pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) cameras.

Sponsored by TAB Systems, the Intruder Alarm Product of the Year was presented to Geoff Pye, Director and General Manager of Optex, by John Sergeant at the IFSEC 2009 Security Industry Awards ceremony on May 10.

Nigel Hackett, Sales Director for Optex Europe, comments: "Optex has been at the forefront of detection technology for 30 years, our products deliver the maximum capture rates with minimum false alarms, whatever the environment, and REDSCAN sets the benchmark for intruder alarms for the future as the award at IFSEC demonstrates."
